Dana Slijboom's practice is informed by her interest in how digital images operate. Using generic motifs that have been isolated and then reproduced over and over, her paintings and collages can appear crude or childlike at first glance. While seemingly uncomplicated at surface level, a number of important themes begin to emerge—questions surrounding translation, image circulation and deterioration, digital and material culture, as well as notions of good taste. Slijboom is a Canadian-Dutch artist based in Toronto. She holds a BFA from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (2009) and has been included in group exhibitions in Canada and the Netherlands. She presented a solo exhibition at Little Sister Gallery in 2017.
