Jane Corrigan’s paintings and drawings explore interiority by way of self-referential allegory and parody. They evoke art history and popular culture alike—in particular, the narrative forms of cinema and the novel, suggesting a kind of comic book Impressionism. Corrigan was born in Shawville, Quebec and has studied at NSCAD University (BFA, 2003), Yale Norfolk Summer School of Art (2002) and SUNY Purchase (MFA, 2009). She has had solo exhibitions at White Columns, Kerry Schuss, Retrospective, Feuer/Mesler, Marinaro (all New York) and at Erin Stump Projects (Toronto). Group shows include those at Sikkema Jenkins, Karma, Feuer/Mesler (all New York); Wilkinson Gallery (London, UK); and Oakville Galleries, among others. She was a recipient of a Louis Comfort Tiffany Award in 2013, and has been granted residencies at the Fine Arts Work Center (Provincetown) and at the Marie Walsh Sharpe Space Program (Brooklyn).
