Kristiina Lahde alters and re-formats found objects and materials through a process of geometric re-organization in which measurement and pattern play a significant role. She continues her project of re-imagining systems of measurement with the piece Metric System (zigzag). She re-works the measuring tape by placing it on a new path so that it bends and breaks away from conventions. Based in Toronto, Lahde received her BFA from NSCAD University in 1999. Her recent solo exhibitions include MKG127 (Toronto), University of Waterloo Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, and OBORO (Montreal). She has also exhibited at the Power Plant, the The Koffler Centre of the Arts, and at La Biennale de Montréal. She was a long list nominee for the 2013 Sobey Art Award.
