Amanda Boulos’s paintings examine familial archives and Palestinian-Lebanese histories in order to value, rather than erase, their fluctuations and inconsistencies. She foregrounds the power of ruptured and abandoned origins by submerging inherited narratives in a metaphoric Mediterranean Sea, a process allowing them to transform into erratic retellings of people, place and time. Boulos holds an MFA from the University of Guelph and a BFA from York University. She has exhibited at Richard Rhodes Dupont Projects (Toronto) and Whippersnapper Gallery (Toronto), and has an upcoming exhibition at Untitled Arts Society (Calgary) in 2020. Boulos was the winner of the 2018 RBC Canadian Painting Competition and will be a resident at the Banff Centre for the Arts in 2019.
