Walter Scott’s work in graphic novels, sculpture, performance and installation, provokes a productive friction around the way we categorize and isolate different modes cultural production. Wendy is a graphic novel series, chronicling the misadventures of Wendy, a young artist living in an urban centre who aspires to art-stardom, but whose dreams are perpetually derailed. As an avatar for Scott, Wendy's concerns and the concerns of the author begin to blur in Trying to Make Sculpture. Wendy (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt) was selected as part of Best American Comics of 2016. Scott has exhibited and performed in Canada, Europe and Asia. In 2016 Scott was an artist-in-residence at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
