Colleen Heslin’s multimedia process invites the emergence of new forms through explorations with dye, stitching and mark-making. Considering histories of abstraction and textiles from a feminist perspective, issues of labour, value, support and surface traditions address the post-medium condition of painting. Heslin has an MFA from Concordia University and is the winner of the 2013 RBC Canadian Painting Competition. Her most recent solo exhibitions were held at Monte Clark Gallery (Vancouver) and the Esker Foundation (Calgary) as well as in group exhibitions at the Power Plant (Toronto), the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery (Vancouver) and the Vancouver Art Gallery. Her work has been exhibited and published in Canada, the US and Europe. Heslin is currently based in Powell River, BC.
