Ed Pien’s work explores expanded notions of drawing, as well as trace, hauntings and the otherworldly. Suspension: Flickering is part of a series of photographs taken during his KIAC Residency in Dawson City. Pien has shown in venues including: Drawing Center (New York); Victoria & Albert Museum (London); The Goethe Institute (Berlin); Art Gallery of Ontario; Musée des beaux arts (Montreal); Musée d’art contemporain (Montreal); Songzhuang Art Centre (Beijing); and the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa). He has participated in the Montreal, Sydney, Beijing, Moscow and Curitiba Biennales. His work can be found in the collections of FRAC (Lorraine); National Gallery of Canada; AGO; Musée d’art contemporain (Montreal); Mendel Art Gallery (Saskatoon); and the Weatherspoon Art Museum (Greensboro).
