Joy Walker places an emphasis on experimentation with shape, colour and line, as they are informed by minimalist and modernist traditions in art. Her process is guided by intuition and is often inspired by chance encounters with workaday objects and materials. Walker is a Toronto-based artist, with works held in several private and public collections including those of le Musée d’art Contemporain de Montréal, the National Gallery of Canada Library and Archives, BMO Financial Group Corporate Art Collection, and TD Bank. In spring of 2019, Walker will participate in residencies at the TextielLab (Tilburg) and at the Van Eyck Academie (Maastricht) in the Netherlands.
