Alex Turgeon’s practice investigates the ways that bodies are managed within physical or lyrically built space and mines the poetics of seemingly benign moral conditions, such as those found within rural industries, middle-class traditions, folklore and fairy-tales, definitions of sexuality and masculinity and the ideologies and economies of late capitalism. Turgeon is a Canadian artist based in Berlin. His work has been exhibited and performed at the Tate (Liverpool); KW Institute for Contemporary Art (Berlin); Art Metropole; Franz Kaka; Proxy Gallery and Brown University (Rhode Island); New Museum (New York); Contemporary Art Centre (Vilnius); Clearview Ltd. (London); and Tunnel Tunnel (Lausanne).
