Ginette Legaré uses objects to recover, alter or reconfigure, aiming to expose the mundane as layered icons of what it means to know. These objects point at the possible chaos that day-to-day orderliness may cover up, and to the more obscure economies at play in our so-called sanities. Legaré was born in Québec City and is now based in Toronto. She earned a BFA from Laval University and an MFA from York University, and is a professor in the Sculpture/Installation program at OCAD University. Legaré is a former member of Cold City Gallery and Mercer Union's board of directors. Her works have been exhibited throughout Canada and internationally, and are found in public, corporate, and private collections.
