Vicky Sabourin’s practice includes installation, photography, and performance. Death or other traumatic events are often at the genesis of the narrative in her work, where resilience manifests itself in the work providing a strong alchemical power that transcends trauma. Colts Raisin / The Den is an image she took while emptying the home of her deceased uncle. Object by object, she unpacked his house and its history, revealing secrets, intergenerational trauma, and sweet memories before. Based in Montreal, Sabourin holds an MFA from Concordia University. Her work has been presented in art galleries, museums, and artist-run centres in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Her solo exhibition Les Curiosités was presented at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and her exhibition Warmblood has been exhibited across the country.
