Abby McGuane’s practice undertakes a sculptural negotiation of pictorial concerns, namely the relationship between image and support. Enlisting raw materiality in tandem with found objects and images, she probes the ways in which power and desire are disclosed and mediated through the built environment. McGuane received her BFA in sculpture and installation from OCAD University in 2011. She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at galleries in Toronto such as at COOPER COLE, the Power Plant, Division Gallery, Birch Contemporary and 8eleven, and was a recent artist in residence at the Vermont Studio Center. McGuane lives and works in Toronto.
