Katherine Duclos is currently based in Vancouver where she maintains a studio practice exploring painting, sculpture, photography, and installation. Neighbouring Giants is from a 2019 series of work that focused on painting subjects that maintained the properties of multiple states of matter at once, thus defying categorization. She creates dimensional forms on a flat surface that appear like familiar or natural objects, but also contain a sense of the cosmos. Duclos received an MFA in Painting and Drawing from Pratt Institute in 2012. She has exhibited in Canada and the United States and has taught at Studio in a School in New York City and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
