Laura Findlay works in painting and installation to address the relationship between empathy, destruction and creation through confrontations between naturalism and supernaturalism. She overlays process and symbol in the reproduction of images sourced from the internet, library books, newspapers and magazines. These disconnected origins speak of fragmentary information interconnected through gestural reproduction and arrangement. Findlay received an MFA from the University of Guelph in 2014. Her recent solo exhibitions have been held at Arsenal Contemporary (Toronto), Forest City Gallery (London, ON), Evans Contemporary (Peterborough), Brucebo Konstnärshemmet, (Gotland, Sweden), the Kamloops Art Gallery, and Zalucky Contemporary (Toronto). Upcoming solo exhibitions will be at Division Gallery (Montreal), and Jarvis Hall Gallery (Calgary).
