Mike Bourscheid, born in Luxembourg, is an artist based in Vancouver. His work Categorical Imperative 8 is part of a larger series of polymer clay drawings that he has been making during the pandemic in order to reflect on the spectrum of his moods. The title of this series is borrowed from Immanuel Kant’s philosophical concept “Categorical Imperative,” which defines a way of evaluating motivations of action. Bourscheid represented Luxembourg at the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017 and has had recent exhibitions at Western Front (Vancouver), Kunstpalais Erlangen (Germany), MNHA (Luxembourg) and Kgold Temporary (Greece). His upcoming projects include solo shows at the Richmond Art Gallery (Vancouver) and at LIAR (New York) and a group exhibition at Künstlerhaus Bethanien (Germany).
