Second Lake Island Struck by Lightning highlights a strain within Parker Kay’s practice that responds to the natural and built landscape. Drawing inspiration from Toronto’s Leslie Street Spit, this work uses photography and drawing to articulate the intimacy of the gutter, where cultural detritus collaborates with new nature to create something novel. Kay is an artist and writer currently working in Toronto. Recent exhibitions include Motel (Brooklyn); Sibling,  Cassandra Cassandra (both Toronto); and Modern Fuel (Kingston). Kay is a researcher and Collections Manager at The Archive of Modern Conflict and is sometimes known as Pumice Raft.
