Karen Kraven is a Montreal-based artist who works in photography, sculpture and installation. Using fabrics to reference skin, Kraven investigates ways of distorting and disguising images of the body. Irroro is a photograph in a series of works that explores disappearance in films and fiction. Kraven’s recent solo exhibitions include MAW Gallery (New York); Parisian Laundry; Darling Foundry; Centre Clark (Montreal); the Institute for Contemporary Art (Portland, ME); 8eleven gallery; and Mercer Union. She has participated in artist residencies at The Banff Centre, ISCP (Brooklyn) and Despina (Rio de Janeiro). Her work is in the collections of the Art Gallery of Ontario, TD Bank, RBC, and Banque Nationale.
