Through the materiality and form of found objects, Alex Tedlie-Stursberg explores how commodities shape human society and its relationship to the planet. In the sculptural series Float, found polystyrene beach flotsam is reconstituted in bronze, halting the source object’s entropic breakdown and ossifying its formal existence. Tedlie-Stursberg is a multidisciplinary artist with a focus on sculpture and installation. His work has been exhibited in North America and Europe, including Glasgow International; Burrard Arts Foundation and Unit 17 (both Vancouver). Stursberg is currently employed as a visual arts instructor at Langara College. In 2020, he will present artworks for Ballard Fine Art and with Deluge Gallery.
